Sleeping With Other People is 2015 romantic comedy about two friend who lost their virginity to each other but now they help (through advise) each other through their different sexual relationships. It stars Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie and it is directed and written by Leslye Headland.
The one thing that pops out about this movie is the great cast. I got excited within the first minutes when I saw Jason and Alison. They always give great comedic performances. Other actors you can expect to see are Natasha Lyonne, Amanda Peet and Adam Scott. Everyone’s performance in this film was pleasant and heart-warming. You’ll especially enjoy the chemistry between Jason and Alison.
The film however has a very predictable ending. I don’t mind predictable endings but the film has to have an electrifying journey to the (predictable) ending. Unfortunately, this did not happen with Sleeping With Other People. The story was very lousy and it felt like it was dragging. Yes, there are a few laughable moments but that doesn’t distract you from the poor plot.
The style of directing is quite normal. Don’t expect to see exciting camera angles, lighting, sound, editing, etc. Everything is just regular. I suggest you choose another romcom for date night. I don’t think this one will light the mood up.
My rating out of 10: A disappointing 5½
