My Take: Captain Phillips (2013)

Captain Phillips is an action thriller about an American cargo ship that gets hijacked by Somalian pirates. The film stars Tom Hanks and American-Somalian actor Barkhad Abdi. It is directed by Paul Greengrass, who is known for making movies which re-enact real life events. It follows the story of Tom Hanks character, Captain Phillips, as he is taken hostage by the Somalian pirates. This real life event is known as the Maersk Alabama hijacking which happened in 2009. The film stars British actors Idris Elba and Naomie Harris who play the famous Nelson Mandela and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. It’s directed by English director Justin Chadwalk.
